Day 1 & 2

Introduction: 

  • Meghan Koons: Introduce the overall project

  • Melanie Marzen: Introduce the EdTech portion of the assignment

  • Robina Button: Introduce the research & case study databases

Basic Research: This assignment requires some introductory research that addresses the following.

  • What is the disorder? 

  • Contributing factors - what causes the disorder?

  • Symptoms

  • Diagnosis & Treatment

  • Signs to look for and how to support a friend

  • Finding help / support (at school, in the community, etc)


Case Studies: Students must read about AT LEAST 3 case studies to assist in answering the following questions. *If questions are not answered in the first 3 case studies, read until you find the answers.

Subject Name & Age

Give a summary of the case study (What is it about?)

How long has the subject had the disorder?

What signs & symptoms did the subject experience BEFORE treatment?

What was diagnosis and treatment like for the subject? (How were they diagnosed?)

After treatment, what medications or management techniques did your subject use to get through daily life?

  

 

Day 3

Multimedia Project:

The object of this project is to visually show what it would FEEL like to live with your assigned mental disorder. 

Part 1: Create the multimedia project

  • Choose one visual multimedia platform for your project

    • Painting / drawing

    • Collage 

    • Other

  • Create your visual art project

    • You will have 1 full class block to create your visual art project any other time needed will be done on your own time. 

Part 2: Slide

  • Complete your slide in the class presentation slideshow.

  • On your slide:

    • Your name

    • A picture of your multimedia project

    • Give 3 adjectives you would use to describe the disorder

Part 3:

  • Explain your project to the class

    • Why did you choose the platform you did?

    • Why did you use the colors and/or design?

    • How does the project visually represent your assigned disorder?
