Slideshow |
Create an 8 -12 GOOGLE SLIDES slideshow that answers the essential question for this entry’s constitutional principle. Use at least two real life examples as supporting evidence. You may use examples we studied in class and/or examples you have found on your own. You should take a strong position on one side or the other, while acknowledging the contradictions that may exist in our government and society. Include both text and images in your slideshow. You may also include short, relevant videos. |
Original Art or Music |
Create an original piece of art or music. Use any style or medium. The purpose of your creation is to artistically represent your answer to the essential question for this entry’s constitutional principle. You should take a strong position on one side or the other, while acknowledging the contradictions that may exist in our government and society. Include a typed, 1-2 paragraph explanation of the meaning of your work on a GOOGLE DOC. |
Short Story |
Write a 3-4 page (double-spaced) short story on a GOOGLE DOC. Through your storytelling, address the essential question for this entry’s constitutional principle. Be sure your story is a good story and doesn’t sound like a textbook passage. Include a plot arc, characters, dialogue, and precise language. In other words, make use of all the tools of good fiction writing. You should take a strong position on one side or the other, while acknowledging the contradictions that may exist in our government and society. At the end of the story, include a one paragraph explanation of the meaning of your story. |
Set of Poems |
Write a set of 2 poems on a GOOGLE DOC. Through your poetry, address the essential question for this entry’s constitutional principle. Be sure your poems include some or all of the following elements of poetry: imagery, alliteration, assonance, figurative language (metaphors, similes, etc.), rhyme scheme, stanzas, and tone. You should take a strong position on one side or the other, while acknowledging the contradictions that may exist in our government and society. At the end, include a one paragraph explanation of the meaning of your poems. Or, if it makes more sense, you may include a separate explanation at the end of each poem. |
Set of Political Cartoons |
Create a set of 2 political cartoons either digitally or by hand. Each cartoon should, in its own way, address the essential question for this entry’s constitutional principle. Include some or all of the elements of political cartoons: symbolism, captioning & labels, analogy, irony, and exaggeration. Draw your cartoons on nice paper with nice writing utensils. Be sure they have a professional, finished look. You should take a strong position on one side or the other, while acknowledging the contradictions that may exist in our government and society. Paste in an image (screenshot or picture) of both cartoons on a GOOGLE DOC, and for each cartoon, include a written explanation of the meaning and intended message. |
Letter to the Editor |
Write a one-page (single-spaced) letter to the editor of a newspaper or magazine on a GOOGLE DOC. The purpose of the letter is either to bring awareness to an issue and/or to persuade readers of your position on an issue. Be sure your issue and the contents of the letter connect to this entry’s essential question. You should take a strong position on one side or the other, while acknowledging the contradictions that may exist in our government and society. If you choose, you may actually send your letter with the hopes that it will get published. I can help you with that step. |
Your project will be worth 100 points in the summative category. I will use the following rubrics to grade each entry, depending on the project that you choose to create.
