Humanities “Hero” Exhibit

Examining the complexity of being human 

The Task: Design a Google Site exhibit that showcases an individual or group of people that should be regarded as “heroes” either in history or the present day. Through learning about your chosen “hero”, your job is to thoughtfully answer the research question below and design a unique website using images and descriptions. *Note: A hero can be an individual or group of people* 

Research Question: 

What lesson(s) can be learned through a hero’s accomplishments or challenges? Why do people value these lessons?

The Content- Your exhibit must include: 

- Strong Exhibit (Website) Title 

- About the curator: This includes a personal statement from the curator about their thoughts regarding what makes a hero and what qualities a hero embodies. 

- Introduction: Introduce the hero being researched and the main claim answering the question. Showcase 3 essential questions that are relevant to the person or group of people you chose to resear

  1. Exhibit

    1. 3 paragraphs answering the question with: 

      1. Sub claim: Connected to the main claim. Focuses on one element of the essential question. 

      2. Context: Provide background information on your evidence. (context for your hero or the hero’s journey)

      3. Evidence: Researched and properly cited evidence about a hero. 

      4. Analysis:  Dissect and explain your evidence. Connect your evidence to your sub claim.

      5. Concluding Sentences: Tie up your paragraph. Explain how your evidence proves your claim’s main claim. 

- 3 carefully selected visual artifacts that support your paragraphs:  images, artwork, political cartoons, photographs, videos, etc. MUST BE CITED, school appropriate, and must include a short caption explaining what is in the image and why it was chosen for this gallery.

- Conclusion: Wrap up your research by sharing your final thoughts on what makes heroes complex and the challenges of perfectionism, in order to avoid ‘single story’ narratives.  

- Works Cited: List of MLA citations for each source that was used during research.
